A golf course’s trees do a lot of quiet work. Chosen and placed with intent, they influence how a hole is played, set off a view, mark a boundary and give a course its identity for generations. Planted without a plan, they can just as easily get in the way.
A growing number of clubs are treating planting as a long-term strategy rather than an occasional job. Deciding which trees to use, where they belong and what each one is there to do is far easier with experienced people beside you, and we have spent more than fifty years growing trees for Irish conditions.
That experience is behind our new Golf Course Collection: a curated range of more than forty species and cultivars of mature trees, grown and selected for Irish courses. It gives clubs a more thorough, professional way to plan their planting and develop the course over time.
Players hit further than courses were designed for. Boundaries need protecting, doglegs need their challenge restored, ageing plantings need renewing and ash is coming out. A handful of mature trees, placed with intent, can help with each of them from the first season.
